Gratitude Revisited

The Best Part of the Meal

Thanksgiving is a day for giving thanks as the name suggests. I have a ton to be thankful for. Just ask my therapists who were the recipients of a two-page gratitude list. However, it’s always sad to be away from family on this day which is supposed to be a celebration of family and friends. I live 3000 miles from my closest family so I chose to spend Thanksgiving with my immediate family at a restaurant in Sacramento.

The day was celebratory in that it was the first day we were able to take our active Schipperke for a 5 mile walk given that the air was finally cleared from the smoke of the horrible Butte fire. But, not everyone survived the fires with their living space or even their lives.

I am extremely grateful that we were not affected by the fire other than a couple of weeks of inconvenience. My heart goes out to those who suffered and continue to suffer in Butte County.

It is now raining and it the meteorologists predict that it is going to rain on and off for the next few weeks. Hopefully this will be a rainy winter and help with our five-year drought. So far, so good.

As is usual for me on Thanksgiving, I am getting a jump on my New Year’s resolutions. I am going to write a blog post a week some on loneliness and some on other topics. I’m also going to keep up with regular meditation/Petitations, yoga, spinning and eating as healthy as possible.

Continuing to work in therapy is critical as well as taking my medication.

I want to be a good owner to my Pup and have a healthy relationship with my partner.

Finally, I’m going to have something to present in speed dating at the National Women’s Book Association in March. I’ll check back in in January.

Enjoy the rest of the Thanksgiving Day weekend!
