Interview with J.J. Austrian: Author of “Worm Loves Worm”
J.J.’s first and successful picture book is “Worm Loves Worm” where all the worms want is to get married and they have to jump through hoop after hoop. But, they are finally able to profess their love to each other in front of their friends, especially now that the Supreme Court may be looking at gay marriage again.
J.J.’s son asked him when he was a little kid, why his good friends, two women, couldn’t get married. Although at the time, tongue tied, now he clearly isn’t. His son thought it was dumb and this book definitely reflects his son’s sentiments.
J.J. is charming and you can tell extremely passionate about writing for kids. He has the right attitude: “enjoy the process and everything else will fall into place.”
